Over the past three weeks, the United States (US) and Chinacompeted with each other in announcing punitive trade measures against each other….These additional tariffs will not come into effect immediately. In case of the US, there is a two-month period for widerconsultations. The Chinese government has also not announced the dates when the new tariffs will come into effect. Probably, the two-month period will give space for a negotiated settlement and prevention of a trade war.
